Adrianne Palicki, known for her role in “Friday Night Lights,” shared insights about her experience in Texas during an interview with Fox News Digital. She attended a special fan event marking the 20th anniversary of the show, hosted by Plex and ATX TV.
Palicki expressed that moving to Texas brought her a sense of “heart” she felt was absent in Los Angeles. She credited Texas, particularly Austin, for its creative community, noting the budding film industry there. “Not a lot of my friends are actually even in the industry,” she said, highlighting the creative freedom Texas offers. “We’re able to make the movies we want to make,” she added.
Palicki played Tyra Collette on “Friday Night Lights” from 2006 to 2011. She explained that making films in LA requires substantial investments. In contrast, Austin allows filmmakers to collaborate with peers to produce content affordably. “You can get together with your friends […] and make whatever you want,” Palicki noted.
The move to Texas was influenced by her experience filming “Friday Night Lights.” Initially, she stayed with co-star Connie Britton, who played Tami Taylor. Palicki described LA as sometimes negative, with everyone “vying for the same thing,” which motivated her relocation. Texas offered a “very positive environment and community.”
The fan event celebrating “Friday Night Lights” took place at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Downtown LA on July 21. Fans gathered to watch a cast-selected episode, hear cast members’ stories, and celebrate the show’s community-driven impact. The original cast included Minka Kelly, Zach Gilford, and Taylor Kitsch, among others.
Palicki, also known from “Supernatural,” shared a glimpse into her life in Austin. “I’m probably one of those people that wakes up a little too late, snuggles with my dog,” she said. She enjoys the greenery, community, and the food in Austin.
Reflecting on “Friday Night Lights,” Palicki said the show transformed her acting career. It taught her to trust her instincts and fellow actors. “We’re told where to go, where to stand, whatever, no marks,” she explained, emphasizing the improvisational freedom the show offered.
Palicki underscored the unique nature of “Friday Night Lights,” stating, “People try to copy it, but it’s just a very special show.”
