The Education Department has made significant changes to the list of graduate programs that qualify for higher student loan limits. Previously, only 11 programs were eligible; however, this number has now expanded to 29.
These changes come after a federal court intervened and temporarily halted the agency’s definition of a ‘professional’ degree. This intervention created space for the inclusion of more programs under the higher loan limit eligibility.
This expansion means more graduate students can access increased financial support for their education. It is a development that aims to ease the financial burdens associated with higher education.
As students like those from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government celebrate their achievements, the updated loan policy marks a positive change for future cohorts.
