Lauren Bennett, the singer recognized for her performance in LMFAO’s 2011 hit “Party Rock Anthem,” passed away at age 37. Her former group, G.R.L., announced her death on Monday.
G.R.L. shared the news on Instagram, expressing their sorrow in a statement signed by members Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton, and Paula van Oppen. The message conveyed deep sadness over Bennett’s passing, but details regarding her cause of death remain unknown. Bennett’s representative has yet to respond to inquiries for more information.
Bennett gained fame after singing on “Party Rock Anthem,” which achieved a six-week run at the top of Billboard’s chart in 2011. The track was one of LMFAO’s two number one hits, with “Sexy and I Know It” being the other.
The G.R.L. members shared their grief and love for Bennett, highlighting her significance in their lives. They posted, “Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us.” They further wrote, “We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.”
Simone Battle, another member of G.R.L., tragically passed away in 2014.
G.R.L. originated in 2011 as a revival of Pussycat Dolls, later coming into its own as G.R.L., according to reports from Rolling Stone during that period. The group established its mark with tracks like “Ugly Heart” and collaborated on Pitbull’s hit “Wild Wild Love.”
