The Social Security Administration plans to issue special Social Security cards to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary. These limited-edition cards, carrying the ‘Freedom 250’ logo, will be given to babies born in the United States between July 2 and December 31.
While resembling the traditional blue wallet-sized Social Security cards, these new cards carry the distinct mark of the Trump-backed initiative, Freedom 250. This initiative, launched by the Trump administration last year, aims to organize nationwide events to celebrate the nation’s semiquincentennial. Unlike America250, a nonprofit created by Congress in 2016 for similar purposes, Freedom 250 often aligns with Trump’s administration and its agenda.
An example image released by the Social Security Administration shows what the special cards will look like. This initiative reflects a blend of public and private efforts to mark this significant milestone in American history.
