Amnesty International has released a report accusing Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of systematically targeting civilians, including children, during the civil conflict with Sudanese armed forces. The report highlights accusations of ethnic cleansing carried out by the RSF as they took control of the city of El Fashir in the Darfur region last October.
In June 2019, a soldier from the RSF was witnessed standing on his vehicle in Sudan’s East Nile district, symbolizing the ongoing strife. The NAIROBI report reveals that the paramilitary group, engaged in intense fighting with government forces, violated human rights in their quest to control strategic locations.
The report further emphasizes that these actions constitute crimes against humanity. Amnesty International’s findings call for international attention and measures to address the violations taking place in the conflict-ridden region.
