The day began with country singer Bailey Zimmerman playing golf at Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque on May 27. By the day’s end, Zimmerman was facing a felony criminal damage charge and a misdemeanor, accused of causing thousands of dollars in property damage at the resort.
Golf and Arrival at the Hotel
Zimmerman and his group returned to the hotel in a white SUV around 3 p.m. Upon arrival, the group smoked a shared cigarette, with Zimmerman reportedly burning band members who were laughing at the act. At 4:20 p.m., they proceeded to the amphitheater for a soundcheck.
Chaotic Soundcheck
According to police surveillance footage, Zimmerman exhibited erratic behavior during soundcheck. He allegedly threw microphones and cymbals, toppled equipment, and ignored attempts by his band to calm him. At one point, he shoved a guitarist and kicked over drum equipment.
Leaving the Amphitheater
Zimmerman left the soundcheck after 44 minutes and walked to the waiting white SUV, throwing a water bottle and spitting toward security before entering. Complaints about the SUV’s color were noted, but he ultimately got in.
Return to Hotel and Concert Cancellation
Back at the resort at approximately 4:49 p.m., Zimmerman stumbled out of the SUV, heading toward the wrong entrance while losing a shoe. He canceled his concert, citing health issues, and posted an apology on Instagram, explaining his decision to reschedule shows.
On May 28, resort staff discovered over $16,000 in damages in Zimmerman’s hotel room, which included broken furniture and a damaged TV. Additionally, over $400 in unpaid alcohol charges were noted.
Escorted and Arrest Warrant Filed
Resort management requested Zimmerman and his entourage leave, leading to a disorderly incident that required police involvement to escort him off the property. A felony charge of criminal damage and a misdemeanor for falsely obtaining services were filed, resulting in an arrest warrant signed by a judge on June 18.
Zimmerman’s Apology
Following the issuance of the arrest warrant, Zimmerman issued an apology through his attorney. He expressed regret for his actions at Sandia Resort, apologizing to the Pueblo of Sandia and his fans. He acknowledged the disappointment caused and promised to handle the legal matters seriously, aiming to learn from the experience.
