President Trump visited western Wisconsin to rally support among farmers affected by his tariff policies and escalating fuel prices due to the conflict in Iran. His visit aimed to bolster support for Republican Rep. Derrick Van Orden, who is seeking re-election in a district with mixed political leanings.
During his visit, Trump promised a swift resolution to the Iranian conflict. He showcased images of Washington improvement projects and made comments on male athletes’ physiques. Attendees praised him as he emphasized his commitment to farmers.
“I don’t need this, I got elected, what the hell do I have to be here for?” Trump remarked to a rain-soaked crowd, asserting his preference for supporting farmers over staying in the White House.
With midterm elections approaching in Wisconsin’s competitive Third Congressional District, Trump aimed to secure farmer support. His policies on tariffs and the Iranian conflict have impacted them. By visiting Wisconsin, he hoped to support Van Orden, a dedicated Republican, in the race he narrowly won in 2024.
Trump noted the region as slightly more liberal than desired but recognized the district’s importance. Several Trump administration figures, including Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., have recently visited to emphasize this support.
