U.S. Military Strike Targets Narco-Trafficking Vessel in the Pacific

President Donald Trump participated in a Cabinet meeting at the White House on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in Washington. During this meeting, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth observed proceedings. Meanwhile, recent military actions in the eastern Pacific are drawing attention.

The U.S. military announced conducting a strike on a boat accused of drug smuggling in the eastern Pacific Ocean, resulting in the deaths of three men. This incident marks the fourth attack by the military within a week, raising the total number of fatalities to 205.

The U.S. Southern Command issued a statement describing the vessel as being “engaged in narco-trafficking operations” and operated by a terrorist organization. However, no evidence accompanied this accusation.

This operation is part of a broader campaign targeting alleged drug-trafficking boats navigating the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific. A video circulated by the military on social media shows a small vessel in the ocean being hit and engulfed in flames.

The recent strike adds to a series of U.S. military actions that began in early September. Previous attacks occurred on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday of the same week. The Trump administration has emphasized its stance on being at war with Latin American drug cartels, attributing them to the flow of drugs into U.S. communities.

The U.S. Southern Command noted that the strike was ordered by Gen. Francis L. Donovan, who serves as the top U.S. commander in Latin America.
