Pratt stated, “I started doing it last year. It makes me versatile, which is important to show recruiters. In a commanding 35-0 victory over Richards, Pratt secured a 19-yard touchdown catch from Rahsaan Coleman. Coleman completed 11 of 18 passes, amassing 173 yards with two touchdowns, including a 60-yard pass to Ashton Jones. Sophomore running back Theodore Williams added 71 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. A strong defensive showing, led by Robert Williams III and Zen Cambric with interceptions, limited Richards to 166 yards. Isaiah Flowers added another interception, while Javier Stewart achieved a sack and tackle for loss.
The game was tight in the first half with H-F leading 7-0. But Pratt and Coleman connected for a 19-yard touchdown on the opening drive of the second half. Pratt explained, “The coaches motivated us at halftime. I knew I had to step up since my defender couldn’t keep up. Rahsaan delivered the ball, and I made the play.” Coleman praised Pratt’s discipline and work ethic, saying their chemistry has grown over the past year.
Pratt’s secondary role as a long snapper may be overlooked, but he embraces the responsibility. “Pressure builds diamonds,” Pratt said, expressing confidence in handling tense situations. A lifelong wrestler, he attributes mental toughness on the field to his wrestling background, which he’s pursued since age five.
Pratt’s second-half performance ignited a 28-point streak for H-F, while their defense recorded a second consecutive shutout after a 31-0 victory over Bolingbrook. Coach Troy McAllister commented, “Our defensive line has been dominant, freeing up others to make plays.” Offensively, he relies on Pratt, whose family connections to H-F football run deep.
Pratt’s father, Alexander, is an assistant coach for the Vikings, and his brother previously excelled as their quarterback. McAllister noted, “Xavier is a coach’s son, with firsthand insight into our program. At 6-3 and 210 pounds, he’s a fierce competitor and the driving force of our offense.”
