Wyoming residents are heading to the polls today to choose their Republican and Democratic candidates for the governorship. The seat is open as current Governor Mark Gordon, a Republican, cannot seek another term.
Megan Degenfelder, Wyoming’s Superintendent of Public Instruction, is among the Republican contenders. She has received an endorsement from former President Trump. Although Trump’s endorsements have seen mixed outcomes this election season, they remain highly sought after by Republican hopefuls.
Another notable candidate in the Republican race is retired U.S. Marine Colonel Brent Bien. In the 2022 GOP primary, he was a distant second behind Gordon. Now, with no incumbent in the race, Bien has secured the endorsement of the state GOP. State Senator Eric Barlow and Curt Blake, a rodeo-production professional, are also competing in the Republican primary.
On the Democratic side, Ken Casner stands unopposed. Having been the Democratic candidate in the 2018 and 2022 governor’s races, he is the presumptive nominee for this election as well.
Polls are scheduled to close at 9 p.m. EDT.
