Las Vegas Aces forward NaLyssa Smith addressed accusations on Twitch concerning a cheating scandal involving her and ex-girlfriend DiJonai Carrington. Smith chose not to confirm or deny the allegations but questioned Carrington’s decision to publicize past events a year after their breakup.
Carrington initiated the conflict by alleging, on Threads, that Smith was unfaithful with Aces teammate Deja Kelly, Atlanta Dream guard Aaliyah Nye, among others. Smith countered Carrington’s claims, focusing on the timing and the public airing of private matters, especially when both are reportedly in new relationships.
During the live broadcast, Smith criticized Carrington for involving Kelly and Nye, stating, “Bringing up their names is pointless. They woke up to this on a random Sunday night, and it’s absurd.”
Smith also highlighted a recent altercation where Carrington’s aggressive approach led security to intervene. “She started accusing me,” Smith recalled. “I ended up looking like the problem until security stepped in.”
Further denying rumors of surveillance, Smith maintained that she was simply minding her own business. “I wasn’t spying or showing up uninvited. Narratives like that are false,” Smith remarked.
Smith suggested alcohol may have played a role in Carrington’s outburst, commenting, “Liquor and her surroundings seemed to influence her behavior, but it was unnecessary drama.”
Looking ahead, the former Baylor teammates are set to meet on the court on August 1, when Carrington’s Chicago Sky faces Smith and the Aces.
