White Sox’s Kyle Teel Injured in Game Against Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas — Chicago White Sox catcher Kyle Teel faced a crucial moment in the second inning of Monday’s game against the Texas Rangers. He was ready for a throw from right fielder Braden Montgomery to catch a sliding Ezequiel Duran at home plate. Despite his efforts, Duran scored safely.

The situation worsened for the Sox as Teel left the game due to a left ankle injury. The team announced that Teel is undergoing further medical evaluation. This adds to a challenging year of injuries for Teel.

Earlier, Teel suffered a right hamstring strain on March 10 during the World Baseball Classic while playing for Italy. Later, on May 16, during a rehab stint with Triple-A Charlotte, he sprained the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee as his front spike caught when swinging. He returned to play his first regular-season game with the Sox on June 22.

So far, in 19 games, Teel’s performance includes a batting slash line of .190/.271/.317, with two home runs and 14 RBIs.

Following Teel’s injury, Drew Romo stepped in as catcher.

Chicago White Sox shortstop Colson Montgomery returns revitalized after the All-Star break. Three takeaways show the Sox maintained momentum, securing first place in the AL Central. Davis Martin, despite a strong performance, suffered a loss in a 1-0 game, snapping their four-game win streak. Post-break, the Sox came out strong with a 12-4 victory, reclaiming first place.
