Von Miller Reflects on Free Agency Decision for 2025 NFL Season

Veteran pass rusher Von Miller joined the Washington Commanders with a one-year free-agent contract before the 2025 NFL season. He had considered another offer from the Seattle Seahawks, who subsequently won the Super Bowl. While the Seahawks achieved football glory, Miller and the Commanders did not make the playoffs, finishing with only five regular-season victories.

In a recent discussion on the “89” podcast featuring Steve Smith and James Palmer, Miller expressed regret, acknowledging his choice: “Obviously, I picked the wrong team on that one.”

Miller believed the Commanders would offer a stronger push toward a Super Bowl title. The previous year, the team reached the NFC Championship game under rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Meanwhile, the Seahawks did not qualify for the playoffs in 2024.

Miller elaborated on his decision-making process, quoted by ProFootballTalk: “For me, with the Washington Commanders, I just felt like Jayden Daniels was poised for another great season.” Daniels’ performance the previous year led the team close to the NFC Championship, but injuries disrupted the team’s success, affecting the quarterback and several other positions. Miller noted these unforeseeable challenges in team performance.
