Two tourists were injured in a violent altercation involving showgirls on the Las Vegas Strip. The incident allegedly stemmed from a disagreement over a $20 tip for photos.
Jennifer Ortiz and Magdellena Romero were arrested following the September 30 confrontation outside Planet Hollywood. Police responded to reports of a fight involving women dressed as showgirls.
According to an arrest report, visitors from North Carolina posed for photos with three showgirls. They paid a $20 tip before attempting to leave. Ortiz allegedly pursued them, demanding an additional $60 to $180 for the photos.
Police stated Ortiz attacked one tourist, striking them multiple times. She reportedly removed her high-heeled boot and used it to hit the visitor in the forehead, causing a nearly 2-inch cut. Surveillance footage captured the victim being struck over 22 times.
A separate video showed the scene escalating, with two showgirls fighting a man and woman. The footage revealed a performer pulling a woman’s hair and repeatedly punching her. Meanwhile, a man with a bloodied face attempted to intervene, shouting, “Hey! Get off her,” as the fight continued.
Another showgirl remained nearby but unsuccessfully tried to de-escalate the situation, according to police.
The injured tourists declined hospitalization but provided written statements and requested charges against those involved.
An additional complaint involved a man charged $218 after agreeing to pay $60 for photos. The man claimed that Ortiz facilitated this transaction using her phone but later realized the unexpected charge.
Ortiz later told investigators a tourist was the aggressor, while Romero stated she intervened believing her friend, Ortiz, was under attack.
Ortiz faces charges of battery and obtaining money under false pretenses under $1,200. Romero is charged with battery. Both are held at the Clark County Detention Center.
This incident follows a court order for Ortiz to stay out of legal trouble after a similar event on Fremont Street in March. Both women are due back in court on December 3.
