The United States has executed a precise operation in Venezuela, successfully removing a leader from the Tren de Aragua gang. This action highlights the persistent threat posed by drug and human trafficking cartels. Congresswoman Claudia Tenney emphasizes the critical goal of locating 146,000 children affected by human trafficking, an essential mission for law enforcement.
Federal prosecutors have recently charged eleven nationals from Venezuela and Colombia in a wide-ranging criminal case. These individuals are accused of trafficking a minor and an adult woman for sex, alongside drug distribution and illegal firearms trafficking. Ten of these defendants are currently in the United States without legal permission. On Tuesday, ten suspects were arrested in coordinated law enforcement actions across Ohio, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Florida; one suspect remains at large.
A federal indictment consisting of 30 counts was unsealed, revealing allegations against four defendants. They are accused of conspiring to sex traffic a minor and an adult woman between July and August 2025. There is a discrepancy in the victim’s age within the Justice Department announcement.
FBI and Homeland Security agents were actively involved in the operation. Federal charges involve allegations of sex trafficking, drug trafficking, and illegal firearms dealings by individuals unlawfully in the country.
Reports indicate that the defendants crossed state lines to facilitate prostitution and prepared online advertisements in central Ohio. In addition to sex trafficking, members of the group are accused of selling ecstasy, trafficking firearms, and illegal firearm possession.
U.S. Attorney Dominick S. Gerace II stated, “These defendants face prosecution for various illicit trafficking activities, including drugs, firearms, and human trafficking. Our community has no tolerance for such crimes.”
This operation results from a Homeland Security Task Force investigation, emphasizing a commitment to maintaining safety, tackling narcotics, and apprehending violent offenders. FBI Special Agent Jason Cromartie in Cincinnati noted the ongoing efforts to protect Ohio communities.
Acting Homeland Security Investigations Detroit Special Agent Jared Murphey remarked on the task force’s dedication to combating transnational criminal organizations exploiting vulnerable victims while trafficking substances and weapons.
The indictment aligns with an initiative under President Donald Trump’s Executive Order 14159. This program targets international criminal organizations, human trafficking rings, and violent criminal aliens operating within the United States.
Among those charged are Venezuelan nationals residing in Ohio and Tennessee, and Colombian nationals. The Justice Department emphasizes that charges remain allegations until proven in court.
