President Donald Trump has expressed criticism towards a Republican Senate primary contender in Alaska, who is challenging the candidate he supports.
The race involves two candidates named Dan Sullivan. The sitting Senator Dan Sullivan faces off against Dan J. Sullivan, a retired schoolteacher. The latter recently secured a court victory that allows him to stay in the race, following accusations of being a Democratic plant meant to mislead voters.
President Trump has called for support for the incumbent Senator Sullivan, who has served since 2015. He labeled the retired schoolteacher as an ‘imposter’ collaborating with Democrats.
“ALASKA: Be careful, VOTE FOR THE REAL DAN SULLIVAN TODAY,” Trump urged on Truth Social. “Through me, he’s brought HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS BACK TO YOUR STATE. The Dumocrats know how good he is and have put up an imposter of the same name.”
Trump further stated, “Vote for the ‘INCUMBENT SENATOR.’ Don’t let these Fraudsters get away with this HOAX. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Dan J. Sullivan, hailing from Petersburg, denies these claims, stating his candidacy stems from dissatisfaction with the current senator’s performance.
This story is still developing and more updates are expected.
