Trump Administration Achieves Significant Milestone in Immigration Enforcement

The Trump administration has announced a significant milestone in immigration enforcement. Federal authorities have arrested over 10,000 suspected gang members since President Donald Trump began his second term. This effort is part of the administration’s broader campaign to remove violent criminals from U.S. communities.

Arrests and Accusations

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the individuals apprehended have faced accusations of serious crimes such as murder, assault with a deadly weapon, drug trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, robbery, and extortion. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin expressed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has met the administration’s objective of enhancing community safety across the country.

ICE Efforts and Legislative Support

Mullin highlighted the success of ICE under President Trump’s leadership, noting, “ICE has arrested more than 10,000 gang members.” He attributed the release of many of these gang members into the U.S. to former President Biden’s administration. Mullin stated, “These vicious criminals murdered, assaulted, robbed, and terrorized innocent Americans for sport.” He credited the Secure America Act for empowering ICE to intensify its efforts in arresting gang members and other criminals from American neighborhoods.

Key Arrest

Federal officials identified Javier Hernandez Rosas as the 10,000th suspected gang member arrested during the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement campaign.

DHS revealed that Javier Hernandez Rosas, an alleged MS-13 gang member and illegal immigrant from Mexico, marked the 10,000th arrest. Rosas has past convictions for cocaine possession and prior arrests for abduction and weapons possession.

Border Security Priority

The administration announced that tougher ICE enforcement is influencing the reverse migration of violent criminal illegal immigrants. There are reports of foreign prison releases and expanded metro raids. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) stated that it achieved a record staffing level this spring, reaching 21,471 agents — the highest in the agency’s 102-year history. Officials have said that illegal immigration has decreased by over 87% compared to October 2024 figures, underscoring the central priority of border security during Trump’s second term.
