TikTok influencer Sara Gilson, also known as Sara Duffey, was found dead along with her estranged husband, Jeremiah Shawn Duffey, in Owasso, Oklahoma. Authorities are investigating the situation as a murder-suicide.
Sara Gilson had previously made social media posts accusing her estranged husband of being a pedophile. A domestic incident led police to their home, where both were found deceased. A child in the house called 911, informing the dispatcher that his stepfather had shot his mother.
Before the incident, Gilson shared a TikTok video dated July 11, implying a documentary might uncover the alleged crimes of her soon-to-be ex-husband. Her former husband, Lyle Landers, expressed his deep concern, stating he had urged her for years to leave the abusive relationship, offering his support.
Landers highlighted that her dedication to protecting children might have tragically led to her demise. Allegations against Jeremiah Shawn Duffey included touching a female minor during a school event where he served as a basketball coach. Similar accusations were previously raised, leading to further investigation by authorities.
Sara Duffey had filed an emergency protective order to keep Jeremiah away from her home. Another woman also sought a protective order, accusing him of inappropriate behavior with her teenage daughter, a player on the basketball team he coached. Reports indicated that Duffey allegedly gave the girl money to silence her.
The case involved serious accusations of lewd molestation, reported to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
