Tragic Incident at Chicago Train Station: Janitor Murdered

A suspect named Chevazz Campbell, 37, has been charged with the murder of Julian Mobley, a 41-year-old janitor with the Chicago Transit Authority. The attack occurred in broad daylight outside the Damen Green Line station, leading to Mobley’s death. Fox 32 Chicago reports the suspect had legal issues before the incident.

Police have charged Campbell with murder after he allegedly stabbed Mobley in the neck during an argument. The confrontation started when Campbell entered the train station without paying. Prior to the stabbing, Campbell reportedly sprayed Mobley with mace twice.

Authorities revealed that Campbell was on electronic monitoring at the time and had four probation violations for curfew breaches. He was arrested hours after committing the crime.

The Amalgamated Transit Union expressed sorrow over Mobley’s death. They released a statement describing Mobley as a hero who died trying to stop an attack on a colleague over a fare issue.

Meanwhile, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson emphasized his administration’s dedication to ensuring the safety of CTA commuters and employees. Campbell now faces charges including first-degree murder, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon by a felon.
