The UnPopulist, dedicated to defending liberal democracy globally, recently reported new findings by the Institute for the Study of Modern Authoritarianism (ISMA). The survey focused on the evolving attitudes of voters who supported Kamala Harris in the presidential election.
Since 2024, these voters have shown increased cynicism toward American elites. The latest survey results reveal that 69% of Harris voters strongly believe that at least one of six American elites has harmed people like them for selfish interests. This marks a 10% increase from the August 2024 survey, before the election, where 59% held this view.
This change represents the only significant shift among four populist attitudes tracked by ISMA in the survey. The findings suggest a rising skepticism among Harris supporters regarding America’s elite groups and their intentions.
