Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham became the center of online attention after pointing at Phoenix Mercury’s DeWanna Bonner during a heated game. This moment spread rapidly and has even been shared by the White House on social media.
On Friday, the gesture made an appearance in WWE. During the “Friday Night SmackDown” event at Boardwalk Hall Arena in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton mimicked Cunningham’s point in a six-woman tag team match. They faced Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab, with Green and Stratton standing in front of Charlotte Flair to execute the move.
Afterwards, Green commented on X, saying, “When @WWE meets @WNBA.” Ultimately, Cargill’s team secured the victory over Flair, Stratton, and Green.
Discussing the viral moment, Cunningham expressed indifference towards the White House’s reference. She stated, “Every company has done it. I just think they’re another group posting about it.” Cunningham remarked on her technical foul during the game against the Mercury, describing it as “the weakest thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” emphasizing that she “didn’t say a word” and was “literally pointing.”
In the game, held on June 22, 2026, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, the Indiana Fever emerged victorious over the Phoenix Mercury with a score of 86-77.
