Fox News has highlighted a noticeable shift among Latino voters as they move away from former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party ahead of the midterm elections. According to recent polling conducted by NBC News and Telemundo, a significant number of Latino voters disapprove of Trump’s performance. The survey reached 800 registered Latino voters in the United States from September 21 to 28, finding that 69% disapprove of Trump, while only 27% approve.
The polling also indicates a dissatisfaction with Trump’s deportation policies, with approximately 66% believing they have gone too far. Additionally, 75% of respondents feel Trump has poorly managed the economy and the cost of living.

Despite these numbers, the poll shows Democrats holding a strong lead over Republicans among Latino voters. Democrats enjoy a substantial advantage, with 59% of Latino voters preferring them in control of Congress compared to 35% favoring Republicans. However, this represents a 12-point lead for Democrats as they head into the 2024 elections, reflecting some lost ground previously gained by Trump and the GOP with this demographic.
Even with this shift, the GOP has seen significant improvement among Latino voters over the past decade. Support for a GOP Congress was only 21% in 2016 and 26% in 2018. The current poll, conducted through phone interviews and online surveys, carries a margin of error of 3.5%.
These findings align with various polls showing Democrats with a sizable advantage over Republicans approaching the midterm elections. Fox News Power Rankings project Democrats to win 215 seats in the House of Representatives compared to 201 for the GOP, with Democrats needing three more victories from 19 toss-up races to secure a majority. Republicans require wins in at least 17 of these contests.
In response to the polling data, Trump addressed his supporters at a rally in Dayton, Ohio, questioning their accuracy. He stated, “These fake polls, they don’t account for the fact that Trump is out campaigning.” Trump remains confident in his influence, emphasizing past victories and urging supporters to continue fighting against their political adversaries.
