Instead, Schumer directed his attention toward preparing his critique of President Donald Trump’s upcoming prime-time address on Thursday.
The New York Post revealed that Sen. Ruben Gallego, while serving in the House, engaged in sexual relationships with Democratic House staffers who were not directly employed by him. Although House rules do not prohibit such relationships, sources claimed these occurred when Gallego was unmarried.

When questioned about Gallego’s scandal, Schumer mentioned his focus on Trump’s scheduled speech regarding foreign interference in the 2020 election, stating to Fox News Digital, “I’m focused on this right now.”
This incident adds to the negative media coverage surrounding Gallego, who is eyeing a potential 2028 presidential run. The Post stated Gallego acknowledged the relationships, involving aides to Texas Democrats.
In discussions with reporters about the accusations, Gallego remarked, “I’m not going to engage in gossip.” Gallego’s office did not respond to requests for comment.
This report surfaces as Gallego faces heightened scrutiny over his bond with former Rep. Eric Swalwell. Swalwell resigned from legislative duties following allegations from several women accusing him of sexual misconduct, including assault, rape, and harassment. Swalwell denied these accusations firmly.
Gallego quickly distanced himself from Swalwell, admitting that his close association clouded his judgment amid longstanding rumors in Washington, D.C. He enlisted the crisis communication expertise of former President Joe Biden’s former deputy press secretary following the political fallout related to Swalwell and a dismissed Senate Ethics investigation.

The investigation focused on a complaint by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., accusing Gallego of sexual impropriety and campaign finance infractions, which the Senate Ethics Committee ultimately dismissed last month.
Gallego commented that the Ethics Committee’s decision reinforced his stance that the accusations were politically motivated narratives spread by right-wing entities like Luna and her allies.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna responded on X to the latest allegations, demanding Gallego’s resignation, stating, “Glad people are going on record about this creep.”
