Selma Blair in Custody After Incident on Flight

Actor Selma Blair was detained after a flight from Los Angeles to New York. Authorities stated she was allegedly abusive, injuring two flight attendants. This occurred late Sunday night at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey confirmed Blair’s custody after the Delta Air Lines plane landed. Responses from the airline were not immediately available. Both Blair and a flight attendant required hospital evaluation.

The FBI, responsible for investigating aircraft assaults, provided limited details. FBI NY spokesman Sydney Kleinmann mentioned that ongoing investigations prevent further comment. Federal and state prosecutors also withheld comments.

A representative for Blair attributed her conduct to a medical emergency. Blair, known for roles in films like “Cruel Intentions” and “Legally Blonde,” has been an advocate for disability rights. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018, she supported President Joe Biden in celebrating the Americans with Disabilities Act anniversary.

Previously, Blair apologized for inappropriate behavior on a 2016 flight, citing a mix of alcohol and medication. Associated Press journalist Michael R. Sisak contributed to this report.
