San Francisco Giants outfielder Harrison Bader is facing the consequences of a late-night scooter accident. The incident has not only ended his season prematurely but also resulted in suspension of his salary.
On Friday, Buster Posey, president of baseball operations for the Giants, announced the team’s decision to halt Bader’s pay as an investigation into the accident proceeds.
“Over the weekend, Harrison Bader was involved in an accident that has delayed his prior treatment timeline for plantar fasciitis, unfortunately affecting his return to the field,” Posey stated. The team’s statement was reportedly shared by MLB.com.
Bader had already been sidelined since May 29 due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot. The scooter crash, which occurred at around 2 a.m. when he collided with a San Francisco Fire Department truck, has confirmed he will miss the entire 2026 season.
This latest mishap is not Bader’s first with a scooter. Back in 2014, while playing for Florida, he was involved in another scooter accident and was subsequently suspended for 19 games.
Bader, recognized for his defensive skills in center field, is a veteran in major league baseball, currently in his 10th season. His career started with the St. Louis Cardinals, and after nearly six seasons, he was traded to the Yankees. Over the recent years, he played for several teams, including the Reds, Mets, Twins, Phillies, and now the Giants.
The Gold Glove winner boasts a career .244 batting average, 93 home runs, and 336 RBIs. This season with the Giants, Bader managed a .170 average with five home runs in 39 games.
