Reported Tension Between Joe Buck and Troy Aikman Before Recent Broadcast

Troy Aikman and Joe Buck were in the broadcasting booth for the “Monday Night Football” game between the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams in Week 5. The ESPN broadcast appeared normal, but reports suggest an argument occurred before the game.

According to sources, Joe Buck secured a new six-year contract extension with ESPN last month. This agreement ensures he remains the voice of “Monday Night Football”. However, Troy Aikman has not received a contract extension offer, which may have caused discord.

Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports reported that Buck addressed the underlying tension before the broadcast on Monday night. An argument ensued between Buck and Aikman but eventually subdued.

Buck and Aikman have been broadcasting partners for a significant period. They have the longest tenure as a broadcasting duo in NFL history. Before their move to ESPN in 2022, they worked together for 20 years at Fox.

Buck and Aikman are set to return to the booth for Week 6’s “Monday Night Football” game featuring the Washington Commanders and the San Francisco 49ers.
