Over two decades ago, I made a significant career move that greatly impacted my life. I transitioned from my formative years at The Wall Street Journal and CNBC to Fox News. This decision brought profound positive changes that I cannot envision happening elsewhere. I am immensely thankful for trusting my instinct about joining Fox.
During my first day, Jeff Hark, responsible for organizing reporter and anchor schedules, asked me about my family. Knowing I had three young children, he wanted to assure me that Fox appreciated the challenges faced by young professionals raising families. Initially defensive, I insisted on managing these pressures without asking for time off. However, I soon understood that his concern was genuine. This thoughtful perspective made me eager to contribute more, confident that Fox would support me.
Fox empowered me to grow and embrace new challenges. The environment was dynamic, with rapid expansion. Fox News Channel anchors like Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum represented the network at advertising presentations, showcasing its vibrant growth.
Each opportunity I pursued led to new paths. In my first year, I expressed my desire to join the election team covering the 2004 presidential race. I humorously offered to report on how the Democratic National Convention impacted Boston traffic, indicating my eagerness to participate in pivotal moments.
Soon, I reported from the Democratic convention floor alongside seasoned correspondents Carl Cameron and Major Garrett. I felt both excited and apprehensive but persevered. This marked the beginning of two decades covering elections for Fox News, including leading coverage of the historic presidential races.
My career at Fox has taken me globally, covering presidents and royalty. Above all, I have had the honor of sharing stories with war heroes at Normandy and from Berlin, Korea, Vietnam, and Afghanistan. Fox’s deep respect for veterans encouraged this invaluable experience.
For Lachlan, Suzanne, Jay, and all who feel like family, I am eternally grateful. We share a commitment to our nation and strive to uphold it to the highest standards. We hold leaders accountable and hope for its ongoing prosperity.
