OpenAI Employee Charged with Planting Listening Device

The Justice Department has charged an OpenAI employee for placing a listening device in the company’s office. The employee allegedly aimed to intercept oral communications.

Last week, the FBI arrested Abdulrahman Alfozan, a 35-year-old Saudi Arabian citizen working at OpenAI since July 2025. Authorities detained him on October 9, and he appeared in federal court on Tuesday. The device was found in an executive conference room at OpenAI’s offices, described by the company as ‘sophisticated.’

The incident highlights concerns about privacy and security in tech companies. Legal and cybersecurity experts may watch how this case progresses, as it sheds light on preventive measures to safeguard sensitive information.
