Officers Challenge Fund in Federal Lawsuit

Two police officers, Harry Dunn and Daniel Hodges, who defended the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, have filed a federal lawsuit. They aim to stop the Trump administration’s $1.8 billion fund designed to compensate individuals who allege being targeted by a ‘weaponized’ legal system.

The lawsuit claims the fund violates federal law and legitimizes political violence. This marks the first known legal challenge against the fund.

Harry Dunn, Daniel Hodges, and fellow officers Michael Fanone and Aquilino Gonell testified before a House panel in 2021.

The fund has sparked controversy and debate, with some arguing it could encourage further unrest and undermine the rule of law.
