Former NBA player Royce White has shared his insights regarding Enes Kanter Freedom’s ejection from a WNBA game, following a heated exchange with Chicago Sky’s Natasha Cloud. White and Freedom have both declared for the 2027 WNBA Draft, challenging the league’s eligibility policies. White discussed the incident on ‘Don’t @ Me w/ Dan Dakich,’ raising concerns about potential league responses.
“I understand how business and PR work,” White remarked. “The league will likely claim Freedom instigated a conflict with a player, violating the line between spectators and players.”
White anticipates a firm statement from the WNBA, possibly leading to an indefinite suspension or ban for Freedom.
During the Indiana Fever’s victory over the Sky, Freedom was seen on the court side when Cloud approached him, sparking the confrontation. Security intervened, escorting Freedom from the arena. White draws parallels between this incident and others involving spectators, speculating on similar consequences due to political undertones.
Following the ejection, Freedom explained the sequence of events to Fox News Digital’s Jackson Thompson. He claimed that Cloud reacted aggressively to his celebration of Sophie Cunningham’s three-pointer. Freedom asserted his intentions were not romantic, instead emphasizing his support for women.
Freedom detailed how Cloud used “heavy language” during the altercation, surprising him given the presence of young fans nearby.
Both Freedom and White’s recent draft declarations challenge the WNBA to clarify eligibility standards. The current agreement specifies that only women can play in the league but lacks clarity on transgender athlete eligibility.
