MLB reporter Tricia Whitaker faced an unexpected challenge during her coverage of the Baltimore Orioles’ game against the Detroit Tigers. Whitaker, present for Apple TV’s broadcast, got hit on the forearm by a liner from player Adley Rutschman.
Photos shared by Whitaker showed her receiving medical attention from the Orioles’ staff. On social media, she assured her followers that she was alright, noting she had an ice pack and her arm was wrapped. “In case anyone was wondering — Adley Rutschman’s exit velocity is still elite. My forearm is proof,” she remarked, humorously describing the incident as feeling “like the injury update instead of reporting it.”
Fortunately, Whitaker had some time to recover, as Saturday’s game was postponed due to rain affecting the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions over the Memorial Day weekend. The Orioles won Friday’s game with a 7-4 score.
Despite the challenging encounter, Whitaker seemed in good spirits, sharing an update on social media while attending the Indy 500. It seems her main concern now is avoiding bouncing tires.
