Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., accused War Secretary Pete Hegseth of having a ‘bloodlust’ after he posted on X about fallen U.S. service members during the ongoing Iran war. Hegseth had shared a U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) post about the deaths of American troops in Jordan, writing, ‘Godspeed, heroes. Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve.’
Greene responded to Hegseth’s post, questioning his use of the term ‘sacrifice.’ She stated, ‘They did not willingly sacrifice themselves. They were killed because of the war you, Trump, and the administration are waging on behalf of a foreign country, Israel. You mean their deaths fuel your bloodlust for a senseless war.’
On July 17, two U.S. service members in Jordan were killed in action as U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks.
Greene shared her prayers for the families of the fallen and missing soldiers. She called upon President Trump to bring troops home and end what she referred to as an ‘America LAST war.’
In a CENTCOM update on Sunday, they confirmed the loss of the two soldiers and announced the discovery of unidentified remains at the attack location. An examination to verify the remains is ongoing.
Additionally, a U.S. service member in northern Iraq died on July 18 during the controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from an Iranian drone. Another service member was injured and is receiving treatment.
Greene and Trump had a public falling out last year. Greene resigned from Congress in January, leaving her term prematurely.
