Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean recently visited London’s Piccadilly Circus, where they stood among fans. The event was a prelude to the upcoming ‘Diaspora Calling!’ festival. Scheduled for its first UK appearance, the festival commemorates ten years since it started in Brooklyn. Hosted by Dave Chappelle, performances will feature artists like Erykah Badu, YG Marley, Zion Marley, Giggs, and Fireboy DML at The National Bowl in Milton Keynes. Hill and Jean, central to the event, will perform ‘The Score’ in full, marking its 30th anniversary.
Festival Vision and Global Reach
During an interview, Hill explained her motivation for bringing the festival to the UK. She mentioned, “We had an opportunity from the promoters who work with Reggae Land. They offered the venue, and I was excited to bring people together for growth and healing.”
Hill confirmed plans to expand the festival internationally and discussed its evolution since the 2016 debut. She recounted a pivotal moment in Ghana that helped shape the concept. The connection made there inspired a vision for building a global community.
