The Kansas City Chiefs have found a key player in Kenneth Walker III. The running back’s performance has been exceptional in the first four games of the 2026 NFL season.
Walker leads the league with 537 rushing yards. This is more than the yards gained by notable players like Bijan Robinson from Atlanta, James Cook of Buffalo, Baltimore’s Derrick Henry, and Jonathan Taylor from Indianapolis. Walker, who was the Super Bowl MVP last season, also has four rushing touchdowns. In the passing game, he has contributed 12 catches for 84 yards and two more touchdowns.
The 537 rushing yards achieved by Walker are the highest in the first four games of an NFL season in the last 15 years. The previous record of 534 yards was held by DeMarco Murray. Murray, interestingly, is currently the running backs coach for the Chiefs. The team humorously acknowledged this milestone on social media with a post that stated, “Nothin’ like breaking your own coach’s record.”
Thanks to Walker’s remarkable contributions, the Chiefs have secured a 4-0 start this season. They recently secured a victory against the division rival, the Las Vegas Raiders. With a bye in Week 5, the Chiefs will focus on their upcoming game in Week 6, where they will face the Los Angeles Chargers.
