Kaitlan Collins Reacts to President Trump’s Criticism

CNN anchor and chief White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins recently addressed insults directed at her by President Donald Trump. The remarks occurred at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where Collins was honored with an award.

During an interview with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show, Collins emphasized that the focus should not be on her reaction. She said, “I don’t want it to be about my reaction. And so, I think if you let it become about that, then it becomes a back and forth between the two of us.” She highlighted the importance of focusing on her work and the significant questions and reporting that drew Trump’s ire.

“In those moments, it’s important to put the reminder back on the work, on the question, and on the non-answers that we get,” Collins stated.

When Newsweek reached out for a comment from the White House, there was no immediate response.

Events at the Correspondents’ Dinner

During his remarks at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Trump specifically targeted Collins, commenting on her lack of smiling while addressing the crowd. He labeled the award Collins received as “fake” yet claimed to have congratulated her nonetheless.

Following this event, Trump continued his critique on Truth Social. He shared an AI-generated image altered from a Bud Light ad, replacing the face of Dylan Mulvaney with that of Collins. This was one of several manipulated posts Trump shared, demonstrating his continued focus on the CNN journalist.

Pattern of Behavior

This incident is the latest in a series of confrontations between Trump and female journalists. Collins has consistently been a target for Trump’s criticisms. The president has referred to her as the “worst reporter.” Other journalists, such as Mary Bruce from ABC News, Catherine Lucey from Bloomberg, and Nancy Cordes from CBS News, have also faced personal attacks for posing difficult questions to Trump.
