Country singer Kacey Musgraves stirred up controversy at a concert in Texas by calling Christopher Columbus “lame” and “a loser.” Musgraves criticized Columbus with strong language, provoking varied reactions from the audience and the public. Her remarks about Columbus Day garnered both praise and criticism.
Among those who took exception to Musgraves’ comments was country music legend Wynonna Judd. Judd appeared on Tomi Lahren’s show “Tomi Lahren is Fearless” and addressed the situation. “She has the right to do that,” Judd stated. “But that doesn’t mean it’s the right thing.”
Judd clarified that she avoids discussing political issues during concerts, emphasizing her role as an entertainer. “I never hear from my fans, ‘Hey, would you come out and sing ‘Grandpa’ and tell me what your political view is,'” she explained. Judd shared a humorous sentiment, saying, “My grandmother would’ve had a fit,” to express her perspective on keeping personal beliefs separate from her performances.
Judd mentioned her principle of considering “what would Dolly [Parton] do” in situations involving personal beliefs. She emphasized actions over words and highlighted her support for military service members. Judd noted the hurt she feels when her support for troops is misconstrued as a political stance.
“I didn’t come here to talk about politics, I came to talk about music,” Judd remarked. She stressed that her private life is her own business and underscored her patriotism. “I’m a patriot,” she declared. “I support my servicemen. My son is a deputy. And I am for America. Period.”
Judd mentioned her family dynamic, revealing that she and her sister Ashley are currently not speaking as they focus on their separate lives. Yet, Judd maintained her commitment to the country, expressing her loyalty regardless of political affiliations, “If it was President Biden, I would support him. Because he’s the freaking president.”
