Investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Financial and Immigration Matters

The husband of Rep. Ilhan Omar, Tim Mynett, was seen entering their Washington, D.C., home a day after Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents conducted a raid. Mynett, a political consultant, was observed with a Labrador dog on a leash on Tuesday afternoon. This event followed an investigation related to Omar’s immigration status.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro has announced an inquiry into Omar’s financial disclosures, particularly concerning the couple’s assets. It is reported that the raid is linked to a criminal fraud investigation concerning Omar’s immigration documents, prepared by her deceased father when she was young.

Omar‘s financial disclosures are under scrutiny, with significant reductions in reported assets noted in recent documents. In 2024, it was reported that Omar and Mynett’s combined assets were between $6 million and $30 million. However, reports show Mynett’s assets, associated with a winery and advisory firm, have significantly decreased in value.

“The earlier disclosure mistakenly reflected the businesses’ total equity rather than his ownership interest,” Omar’s office stated regarding previous financial filings.

Mynett worked with Omar during her 2020 re-election campaign, and they married in March 2020. Omar’s marital history includes controversy, with allegations regarding her first marriage to a man suspected to be her brother, allegedly to bypass U.S. immigration laws. However, the statute of limitations could impede further investigation into these claims.

On Monday, the Department of Justice obtained a search warrant for a judicially authorized raid as part of the ongoing federal investigation into Omar’s home. These developments continue to place focus on the representative’s financial and personal background.
