Heidi Klum Embraces Body Positivity, Dismisses Hollywood Slimming Trends

Heidi Klum is challenging one of Hollywood’s well-known beauty standards. Amid ongoing talks about celebrities using Ozempic and other GLP-1 medications, the supermodel has spoken out about her lack of interest in these trends.

Klum attributes her body positivity to her husband, Tom Kaulitz. Her perspective on body image has changed significantly due to his influence.

“I’m not interested at all,” Klum stated to Us Weekly regarding weight loss drugs.

The 53-year-old supermodel acknowledges that she has gained weight over recent years. Yet, she feels this weight gain is more becoming than the slender figure the modeling industry has long promoted.

Klum remarked, “I’ve gained weight over the years. I’m no longer a size 24 jean. But I think with age, we look better when we’re not as skinny.”

The turning point for Klum came from her husband, who encouraged her to change how she viewed her physique.

Klum’s husband, Kaulitz, advised her to “eat more” and suggested she would look better with a fuller figure.

“My husband was the first one who pointed that out,” Klum shared. “He said, ‘You should eat more; you would look better if you had more meat on your bones.’ I was like, ‘What?’ This is not something you’re told in the industry, ever, because you’re always supposed to be skinnier than you are.”

The “America’s Got Talent” judge realized her husband had a valid point.

Klum admitted, “When I look back at photos, I’m like, ‘He’s right!’ Proportion-wise, I look better bigger.”

The couple, who secretly wed in February 2019, celebrated their marriage with an elaborate ceremony on the super yacht Christina O. off the coast of Capri, Italy.

While Klum has no personal interest in Ozempic, she refrains from passing judgment on others who opt for the treatment.

“In general, people should do what they want. It’s the same with Ozempic,” she said. “A lot of people have a hard time getting that jumpstart, and if you’ve always struggled with your weight and for 40 years you’ve been trapped and it’s been such a big focus of your life, then maybe this is a great thing to try.”

Klum, who once graced the Victoria’s Secret runway, holds that confidence is more noticeable than cosmetic enhancements.

“What makes a person sexy is knowing their self-worth and knowing who they are. That oozes sexiness,” Klum expressed.

She believes that self-assurance surpasses physical measurements or cosmetic side-effects. Klum stressed the importance of feeling great in one’s own skin.

“When people are looking at every measurement of their booties, [or] at cellulite, it’s like, ‘Is this really what makes me who I am? There’s so much more to me.’ It’s about feeling great in your skin and knowing what you can do.”
