Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, known for his far-left views and YouTube presence, recently discussed his lifestyle choices during a podcast with comedian Ziwe. During their conversation, Ziwe, who is recognized for her challenging interview style, asked Piker about his aspiration to be a champagne socialist.
“Yes,” Piker confirmed when asked if he had always wanted this lifestyle.
Dave Rubin commented on Piker’s transition from a Twitch streamer to a political figure. Ziwe probed further, recalling a controversial statement by Piker about capitalism and asking about his experience at Oscar parties.
“It was weird. Jeff Bezos was there. Terrifying. A lot shorter than I thought,” Piker remarked. He enjoyed meeting an actor from “Heated Rivalry” during the event. Piker attended the Vanity Fair Oscar party and recounted an encounter with Bezos.
“I saw Jeff Bezos for a moment, but I tried to evade his peripheral vision. He’s directly my boss since he owns Twitch,” Piker explained.
Piker also discussed his perspective on housing, highlighting his $2.7 million California home. “I think housing should be free. My needs aren’t more important. I do have a mortgage,” he said, clarifying misconceptions about his financial situation.
More Americans reportedly have a positive view of socialism, according to a new poll.
During the interview, Ziwe questioned Piker on the apparent irony of advocating progressive politics while gaining wealth from it. “I have a cooperative corporation with equal pay,” Piker responded. He emphasized his ethical approach to business, explaining that he does not run ads and prefers to work with union-made, American-made products when creating merchandise.
Piker acknowledged having moderated his opinions after receiving backlash.
On the campaign trail with Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed, Piker shared his views during media appearances, including one where he criticized U.S. actions abroad.
Christian Toto, editor of Hollywood In Toto, commented on the interview, criticizing Ziwe’s decision to provide Piker with a platform and the lack of pressure on his controversial statements. “He had no good response,” Toto stated, urging journalists to challenge Piker more effectively in future interviews.
Piker has also been active in campaign efforts with Democrats running in the November midterms.
