A 10-hour manhunt concluded in Georgia, following the capture of a suspect accused of shooting the mother of his child before fleeing. The Butts County Sheriff’s Office coordinated the search for 46-year-old Darian Berry Sr., a convicted felon.
Incident and Manhunt Details
The domestic violence incident began Tuesday morning in Flovilla, around 50 miles south of Atlanta. Berry allegedly attempted to confine his victim and was also accused of arson and stalking. Upon the arrival of the deputies, Berry fled on foot, reportedly armed, which led to a large-scale search.
“He made the choice to run, but he could not outrun the determination of law enforcement or the incredible tracking ability of the bloodhounds,” stated the sheriff’s office.
Berry’s escape prompted police to issue a BOLO alert to the local community. The law enforcement teams employed the assistance of the Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 Unit. Their bloodhound played a crucial role in locating Berry.

Berry was apprehended by Tuesday evening, largely due to the tracking capabilities of the bloodhound. He faces numerous charges:
- Aggravated assault
- Stalking
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Possession of a firearm during a felony
- Obstruction
- Two counts of arson
- Battery
- Family violence
- False imprisonment
