The former U.S. ambassador to Greece faced numerous accusations of ethical misconduct. Among the allegations, the ambassador reportedly solicited $100,000 from a political donor to settle her personal American Express bill.
On October 7, a meeting took place at the prime minister’s office in Athens, attended by Kimberly Guilfoyle, who was at that time serving as the ambassador, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. In the wake of these allegations, President Donald Trump decided to dismiss the ambassador from her position.
Following the firing, Secretary of State Marco Rubio communicated with all State Department employees. He stressed the importance of steering clear of any conflicts of interest, emphasizing adherence to ethical standards within the department.
