Freedom, known for his strong views against transgender athletes in women’s sports, clashed verbally with Natasha Cloud, a player for the Sky.
Michael Alter, who owns the majority stake in the Sky, confirmed this decision. He mentioned that Freedom’s behavior at the game prompted the ban, which followed his courtside disruption at Wintrust Arena. During a third-quarter pause, Cloud approached Freedom, leading to the altercation.
Alter commented, “Regarding a lifetime ban, if at some point he shows he can attend games without causing issues or posing threats, we might reconsider.” However, he noted no discussion with the league about extending the ban to other WNBA arenas had occurred.
