The Department of Justice is investigating New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani after allegations surfaced about unequal treatment of Jewish residents. The investigation follows a letter from the DOJ highlighting growing concerns over antisemitism in New York City.
Additionally, the Department of Homeland Security is examining a nonprofit linked to Mamdani, as reported by the New York Post. This organization, known as PFF and based in the U.K., allegedly possesses a $100 million fund used to support anti-Israel activities. There are suspicions that it also contributed to Al-Haq, a Palestinian group sanctioned by the U.S.
Sources indicate that Bassema Yousef, identified as a key figure in PFF’s fundraising efforts, is a longstanding ally of Mamdani. Although Yousef resides in London now, her social media displays several anti-Israel statements, claiming the nation commits ‘war crimes with U.S. tax dollars.’
Yousef reportedly established the PFF with backing from donors such as Basil Qunibi, an investment executive, and Yasser Shahin, a motorsports magnate. According to the Post, corporate filings in the U.K. confirm Shahin’s support for the organization, which also maintains a nonprofit arm in Delaware.
The DHS refrained from commenting on the investigation, maintaining in a statement that it neither confirms nor discusses the existence or details of specific probes, intelligence sources, or potential enforcement actions. The information reported does not confirm any criminal wrongdoing at this stage.
