Authorities have confirmed through DNA testing that a body discovered in a Texas creek belongs to missing flight attendant Rana Nofal Soluri. Her former roommate faces charges for the murder.
Soluri, aged 47, was found on June 13 by a fisherman at Brushy Creek in Montague County. This location is approximately 70 miles northwest of Fort Worth. The University of North Texas Health’s Center for Human Identification conducted DNA tests, confirming the identity. A spokesperson for the Fort Worth Police Department informed NBC News about the identification.
Soluri worked for Envoy Air, a regional branch of American Airlines. She had been missing since March 2025 after taking leave for a minor surgery. She was expected back at work by March 31, 2025. However, she was reported missing on June 11, 2025, when she did not return and was unreachable.

Following her disappearance, Dennis Day, 67, was detained. He is both Soluri’s former roommate and a longtime friend. Day admitted during questioning to strangling Soluri during a dispute in March 2025. Reports reveal that he strangled her in their kitchen, then transported her body 70 miles before discarding it off a bridge. Surveillance footage from Day’s home showed him moving what seemed to be a body.
Further investigations show that Day made a call to another woman, Joni Thomas, also known as Joanne Walters, asking for assistance in relocating Soluri’s body. Thomas, aged 63, faces charges of tampering with evidence. Both legal cases are ongoing.
Before DNA tests confirmed the body, prosecutors noted Day’s alleged boasting in jail. He claimed he could not be charged without Soluri’s body being found.
A GoFundMe campaign in Soluri’s daughter Lulu’s name mentions American Airlines’ assistance in transporting her mother’s remains to Seattle for burial. Lulu intends to address the court at an upcoming date in Texas. The campaign thanks the public for their continued support.
