Just over a week after a Texas Tech fan shared an alleged Colorado offensive script on social media, Head Coach Deion Sanders downplayed the incident. This is the first time Sanders addressed the situation, which saw fans analyzing footage to confirm the script’s validity.
Prior to the game against Colorado, Red Raiders fans discovered supposed plays from the Buffaloes’ strategy. This information spread online. When Colorado plays at home in Boulder, the team typically stays at a hotel in Broomfield, near the stadium. Reports suggest a play script was left at the hotel bar where Texas Tech fans were present.
Addressing the media, Sanders reacted nonchalantly, “A whole playbook? I think they get a script. We scored on the first drive, so what’s the purpose of the question?” Upon realizing the mistake by a staff member, Sanders handled the topic lightly. He showed little interest in pursuing an investigation, stating, “Why would we? The game is over.”
When pressed further, Sanders conceded that someone on the team left the plays at the hotel bar. He remarked, “It happens sometimes at all levels, but we scored on the first drive, so I guess it didn’t work.”
Sanders emphasized moving on, “If someone left it, they left it. Mistake, what am I going to do about it? It’s over.” He questioned the reliability of such scripts, suggesting, “If someone called us and said Utah left their script, I wouldn’t believe that.”
Despite Sanders’ effort to dismiss the issue, the incident adds to the unique stories surrounding his tenure. Sanders reiterated his focus, indicating that if challenges persist, the script may be the least of concerns.
