The Dallas Cowboys achieved their first win of the season with a 37-20 triumph over the Washington Commanders. Key to this victory was CeeDee Lamb, the team’s star wide receiver.
Lamb, known for his accomplishments as a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro selection, showcased his prowess by dominating the Commanders’ defense. At 27, Lamb recorded eight catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns, with most of his yardage and scores coming in the first half.
“That guy, he’s been amazing,” remarked Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott during a press conference. “We’re just getting started. He’s just getting started and so he’s a hell of a player.”
Prescott praised Lamb for his consistent performance, as Lamb has scored touchdowns in each of the first two games of the season. Prescott expressed optimism about Lamb’s future contributions.
Despite Lamb’s standout performance, he was informed of a surprise drug test from the NFL immediately after the game. This announcement was shared by Cowboys team reporter Patrik Walker on social media.
Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones expressed no concern about the drug test and focused on applauding Lamb’s commanding display against Washington. Jones highlighted Lamb’s determination and suggested that his performance was a testament to his career achievements and significance to the Cowboys.
Lamb’s exceptional game followed a quieter start to the season, where he posted five catches for 44 yards and one touchdown in a season-opening loss to the New York Giants.
Meanwhile, Jake Ferguson, Lamb’s teammate, also had a productive game with two touchdown catches. Ferguson’s final stats included four catches for 43 yards, but Lamb’s performance garnered more attention.
Prescott contributed to the team’s victory with an impressive showing, completing 26 of 31 passes (83.8% completion) for 279 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. His passer rating was 143.8.
