Dallas Cowboys Cornerback Cobie Durant Faces Injury in Win Against Washington Commanders

The Dallas Cowboys secured a significant NFC East victory over the Washington Commanders, triumphing 37-20 on Sunday. However, this victory was marked by an unfortunate event involving Cowboys cornerback Cobie Durant.

During the second quarter, Durant found himself in the end zone defending against Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin. A powerful pass was launched overhead by Jayden Daniels, prompting Durant to dive and land heavily on his chest. The impact was compounded when Cowboys safety Markquese Bell, seemingly unaware, stepped backward onto Durant’s midsection as he lay on the ground.

Washington Commanders running back Rachaad White was spotlighted for a notable catch against Durant earlier in the game in Arlington, Texas, on Sept. 20, 2026.

The pain was apparent, and Durant remained down for a short period before being assisted by the Cowboys’ medical staff. He had to exit the game due to this injury and did not make a return.

Cobie Durant, who joined the Cowboys during the offseason on a $4 million one-year deal, previously played with the Los Angeles Rams. Throughout his career, he has achieved 141 tackles and seven interceptions over 61 games. In the previous week’s matchup against the New York Giants, Durant registered a tackle and a pass breakup.

In other developments during the game, the Cowboys managed to restrict the Commanders to only 10 points in the second half. Jayden Daniels of the Commanders faced his own challenges, ending the game with a dislocated elbow. The Cowboys forced a fumble by Dyami Brown, marking the game’s sole turnover.

As the season progresses, Dallas now holds a 1-1 record while the Commanders have fallen to 0-2. This adjustment in standings shows the intensity with which these teams are competing early in the season.
