Colson Montgomery showcased adaptability at the plate. He struck out in his initial at-bat but adjusted swiftly. Collecting the team’s first hit in the fourth inning, Montgomery facilitated Vargas’s advance to third base, ultimately scoring on Andrew Benintendi’s sacrifice fly.
Montgomery recorded his 24th home run of the season in the sixth inning, extending the Sox’s lead. He reflected, “I got a good look at the pitches during my first at-bat. This helped when his splitter came over the plate. I could cover each pitch type well.”
Benintendi added to the score with a double, driven home by Braden Montgomery’s single for the game’s final run. Braden Montgomery had consistent performance, securing two singles in the game.
