Americans Missing in Tibet Following Devastation

Numerous Americans have been unaccounted for since Wednesday, as reported by officials and family members. These individuals were on an expedition to Mount Kailash, a mountain situated in Tibet with great significance to both Hindus and Buddhists.

A police officer, accompanied by a sniffer dog, assessed the damage in Devighat, located in Nepal’s Nuwakot district, on Thursday, according to photographs taken by Niranjan Shrestha for the AP.

The incident unfolded on August 28, 2026, at 12:11 PM EDT. Many of those missing were participating in a spiritual pilgrimage when a catastrophic surge of muddy water, ice, and debris swept through the Himalayan valleys that straddle the border between Nepal and Tibet.
