The New York Knicks delivered a decisive performance, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 130-93, securing a four-game sweep and reaching their first NBA Finals since 1999. From the outset of Game 4, the Knicks took command, establishing a significant lead and maintaining control throughout.
The team made 19 of 43 three-pointers and dominated the rebounding battle. Karl-Anthony Towns was instrumental, celebrating during the third quarter of the match played at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, on May 25, 2026.
“The Cavs just totally quit this series after the fourth-quarter collapse in Game 1. Embarrassing effort since then,” Clay Travis commented on X, congratulating the Knicks and referencing the year 1999.
Cleveland’s defeat marked a surprising turn of events for a team considered one of the most complete in the East. The Cavaliers’ coach, Kenny Atkinson, had claimed analytical victories in two of the first three games. However, New York’s overwhelming physical advantage proved decisive.
During the fourth quarter of Game 4, Atkinson pulled the starters, acknowledging the Knicks’ triumph. Jalen Brunson managed the offense skillfully without turnovers, accompanied by Karl-Anthony Towns’ robust performance of 19 points and 14 rebounds.
Even Donovan Mitchell’s 31 points did not suffice for the Cavaliers, as the Knicks’ defense consistently subdued their perimeter attack. This win also extended New York’s streak to six consecutive road playoff victories.
The Finals appearance represents significant validation for the Knicks, following their decision to appoint Mike Brown as head coach after dismissing Tom Thibodeau. Under Brown’s leadership, the Knicks have become a formidable team, maintaining an unbeaten streak as they approach the Finals.
New York faces either the Oklahoma City Thunder or San Antonio Spurs in the upcoming NBA Finals, scheduled to begin on June 3.
